As the school year comes to a close, now is the perfect time to take stock of your learning community strengths and opportunities for growth. In doing so now, you will be better equipped to plan professional development for the next school year that is geared towards your goals and of interest to your staff.
Identifying the areas of strengths, weaknesses, and interests of social emotional learning for both students and staff will help you create an optimal learning, and work environment for all. To gather information, consider sending a brief survey to staff, providing them with a voice into the process of establishing a focus for the next school year. Below are some global areas and a few questions to consider including in your survey to staff. Contact us at [email protected] and we’ll gladly send you a link to a free ready-to-send Google Form you can use to survey your staff today!
- Adult community – What is a strength of our adult community? What is one area we could focus on to strengthen our adult community?
- Student SEL skill level – Thinking about the students of the previous school year, what are three SEL skills they were continuing to develop at the end of the year?
- Professional SEL Learning Preferences – What format of learning would best support your growth in helping students develop social emotional learning skills?
- Personal Well-being – Thinking about how SELf-care connects to your personal social emotional learning skills and competencies, which areas might help you grow professionally and personally?
