With all the changes this school year, questions we are hearing over and over again is “How do we wrap up our time with students so that it makes it feel meaningful?” and “How do we get students to reflect on their learning in an online environment?”
For years, teachers have been using Closing Circles in their classrooms as a way to peacefully wrap up the day and send students away on a positive note, with a sense of accomplishment and feeling of belonging. With the end of the day presenting many challenges, and often feeling rushed, providing a positive routine can help students to leave school feeling excited and looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.
Meeting these same goals in a virtual classroom is just as important. Wrapping up the learning time with students having a chance to celebrate their hard work, and build enthusiasm for their return the next morning is critical.
To help get you started, we have created for you a few FREE Digital Closing Circle activities and reflection questions, that you can download and use with your class in Google Slide form. So just gather your class on whatever online platform you use, and screen share away!
