Embracing Seasonal Changes: FREE Advisory Meeting Plan

Advisory blocks are often one of middle schoolers favorite parts of the school day because it allows them the opportunity to learn in a less-demanding environment than their other classes. When implemented thoughtfully and carefully planned, advisory meetings are powerful because they build students’ social, emotional, and academic skills.

The structure of an advisory meeting allows advisors to provide structured discussion, time, and a listening ear to students to discuss important issues they experience – ranging from classroom challenges to personal hardships they are working through. Advisory meetings are also an excellent forum to discuss current events – local, nationwide, or worldwide.

Advisory meeting plans that focus on current events can encourage discussion amongst students, provide them opportunities to consider different perspectives, and bring home knowledge to their families. As the school year starts, consider using local, national, or worldwide current events as a focal point for advisory meetings, which will keep the students engaged through changing content.

To help get you started, we have created for you a FREE Autumnal Equinox Advisory Meeting Plan, that you can download and use with your class. So just gather your class, and use it on the first day of Autumn!
