Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions—but it’s also one of the most challenging. In recent years, I’ve worked closely with teachers who were on the verge of burnout. They loved their students and believed deeply in the importance of their work, but the weight of endless demands was draining their energy, affecting their sleep, and straining their personal lives. Sound familiar?
Seeing these dedicated educators struggle brought me back to my own experiences and the tools that helped me reclaim balance and joy in my life. That’s when I knew: teachers didn’t need more pressure or another checklist.
They needed something to help them reconnect with themselves.
That’s how the Lesson Plan for Life course was born—a 6-week journey to help teachers rediscover their energy, restore their well-being, and enjoy teaching again.
The Turning Point: Seeing the Need for Change
A few years ago, I watched as some of the most incredible teachers I knew began to dim. They still cared deeply about their students and their work—but the constant demands, stress, and exhaustion were taking a toll. It was affecting everything—both inside and outside the classroom. And I couldn’t look away from the signs of burnout.
For over 30 years, I’ve been passionate about health and well-being. Growing up, I faced frequent illness from unknown food allergies, battled migraines, and went through seasons of deep emotional struggle. These challenges pushed me to find tools and strategies that brought back clarity, balance, and joy.
And I realized: the same practices that helped me show up fully in my own life could help teachers not just keep going—but feel good doing it.
This course was created to give educators the space, support, and structure to thrive—both in the classroom and beyond.
The Game Changer: Positive Mindset
One of the most impactful lessons in my journey—and the first lesson in the course—is adopting a positive mindset. It’s not about pretending challenges don’t exist but about reframing how we approach them. For teachers, this mindset is a game changer.
Imagine facing a classroom of students who are misbehaving. Instead of taking it personally or feeling frustrated, a positive mindset allows you to see their behavior for what it is—something you’re witnessing, not something directed at you. This shift makes all the difference. You’re able to stay calm, respond thoughtfully, and, most importantly, leave work at work when the day is done.
A positive mindset also opens the door to gratitude. Whether it’s appreciating your own patience or finding a silver lining in a tough day, gratitude fuels resilience and helps you focus on what’s working.
Reconnecting Teachers to Their Purpose
At its core, this course is about helping teachers reconnect with themselves. When you feel balanced and energized, you bring your best self to the classroom—and your passion for teaching shines through. My goal is for teachers to not only rediscover the joy in their work but to love it so much they want to stay in the classroom.
Teaching doesn’t have to be a job that drains you. It can be the source of fulfillment and pride it was always meant to be.
