Our Beginning
Before we started teaching, we had an idea of what school should be like - classrooms full of students learning, growing, and working together as a community.
We never imagined what the school day would actually hold - students who didn’t know how to get along, curriculum that left us scratching our heads for more engagement, lack of effective collaboration with others, struggling to connect with parents….
We never imagined we would turn into those teachers– you know, the ones who feel burnt out and exhausted by lunchtime?
In 2000, we discovered the power of building relationships and positive discipline strategies—we finally understood how the proactive pieces we put in place led to the type of classrooms we wanted.
What we learned completely changed our classrooms, and it can change yours, too.
From Teachers to Coaches: The Start of Positive School Solutions
After years of research, studying, practice, and seeing success in our own classrooms, We knew we had to share these tools with other teachers and leaders.
Using our instructional expertise as trainers and coaches for Responsive Classroom, we began coaching to share our knowledge. Since 2001, we have helped teachers and leaders transform thousands of classrooms across 10 countries.
In 2020, we embarked on a full-time journey to convert our successful strategies into online courses. After a year of planning and preparation, the first Positive School Solutions course was born. By taking our courses online, we are finally able to meet the demands from teachers and school leaders all over the world.
